Dorothy Freda (Jones) Ridgley was born on 19 Jul 1921 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, daughter of Floyd Edwin Jones (1896 - 1979) and Eva Jane (Boyd) Jones (1899 - 1993).

Dorothy married Donald Arthur Robinson (1919 - 2008) on 25 Sep 1945 in Loma Linda, CA. Their children were:

3. Susan Aldene Ridgley (1960 - living).

Dorothy crossed the border into the United States from her home in College Heights, Alberta, Canada, in 1940/41. According to the United States Department of Labor, Immigration and Naturalization Service Border Crossing document^[1] she was 20 and gave her home address as College Heights, Alberta, and her place of birth as Edmonton. On the document was typed Presented father's (Floyd E. Jones') birth certificate--Greenfield, Iowa. And Seattle off. letter, 4-2-40, exhibited by applt., informing applts father _.C.O. regarding him as Grandfather. Arthur Jones appeared with applicant, stating that Floyd E. Jones, his son, never expatriated. Approved Aug 1 1941 by U.S. Immigrant Inspector.

Dorothy took nurses training in the early 1940's at what was then the Portland (Oregon) Sanitarium and Hospital and became a Registered Nurse. This was also where she met her future husband Don Ridgley.

After World War II ended she and Don moved to Los Angeles, California, where she began nursing at White Memorial Hospital. It was there that she gave birth to her eldest child, Larry. Soon thereafter they moved to Loma Linda, California, where they bought a duplex apartment and Don proceeded to remodel the garage into a home, which still stands today at 11265 San Lucas Drive.

In the 1950 census Dorothy (age 28), Dietician, was the married daughter-in-law of John Hildenbrandt in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, United States.^[2] John Hildenbrandt was the third wife of Myrtle Florette Bassford-Robinson-Ridgley-Hildenbrandt and was Donald Ridgley's step-father. Those who were living in the Hildenbrandt household at that time were as follows:

In 1954 she gave birth to her second child, Leland.

In September of 1960 the family relocated to Overland Park, Kansas, where the both had jobs at the newly-constructed Shawnee-Mission Hospital. It was also there that she gave birth to their third child, Susan.

In April, 1967, they moved to Sanitarium, California (now Deer Park), to work at St. Helena Sanitarium and Hospital. In the early 1980's Dorothy retired from nursing. In the late 1980's they moved to Auburn, Washington, where Don had a position with Harris Pine Mills. After a fall that forced Don's retirement they moved to Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, where, with the help of Leland, they built their retirement home. In 2007, due to poor health, they sold their retirement home and moved to Albany, Oregon, to be near their son Larry.

Don passed away in March of 2008 and Dorothy died on 4 Mar 2012 in Albany, Oregon aged 90.^[3] Both of their ashes were scattered at sea off the coast west of Depot Bay, Oregon.
