Lize Celeste (Jones) McCall was born, daughter of Evan Jones (1739 - 1813) and Marie Marguerite Ponponne (Verret) Jones (1749 - 1821).[1]
Lize was the daughter of Evan Jones, originally of Philadelphia. He was sent to New Orleans as the American Consul to the Spanish government there. He remained to settle in New Orleans.
Her sister was Mary (Jones) Marigny (1787 - 1808).
Lize married Henry McCall (1788 - 1859). Their children were:
Celeste was mentioned on a memorial in Saint Louis Cemetery Number 1, New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, United States with a death date of 2 May 1815.[2]A different death date of 5 February 1825 is on Orleans Parish Cemetery Records. [3]
Several records state that Henry McAll married two daughters of Evan Jones, i.e., Lize and Celeste. There is no record of a Lize born to Marie Verret and Evan Jones. Celeste 'Lise' is the name of the Family Search profile. Celeste's sisters Mathilde died at age 30 buried as Mathilde Jones. No records so far linked to Maria (1786), Isabel (1793) or Maria (1796). It is likely that Celeste and Lize are one and the same person, with confusion coming from two separate Find-A-Grave sites.
