Biography

When Lena Clare Jones was born on October 12, 1859, in Lamar, Texas, her father, Hardin, was 27, and her mother, Adelaide, was 17. She married Logan E. Strickland in 1880 in Bagwell, Texas. They had four children during their marriage. She died on September 17, 1953, in Bagwell, Texas, at the age of 93, and was buried in Paris, Texas.

THE DETROIT NEWS-HERALD, 24 Sep 1953 from microfilm in Clarksville Library: Mrs. Lena Clark Strickland, 93, widow of Dr. Logan E. Strickland, died at her home in Bagwell last Thursday at 11 p.m. She was a daughter of the late Hardin I. and Adelaide Forbes Jones and was born in Lamar County, Oct. 1 1859. She was married to the late Dr. Strickland at Bagwell in 1880. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bagwell Church of Christ by M. B. Barton, Clarksville minister, and Clarksville Funeral Home made burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Park east of Paris.

Surviving are these children: S. I. Strickland, Paris; Dr. T. C. Strickland and Mrs. J. W. Ward, Greenville; Mrs. Lina M. Fitzgerald, Long Island, N. Y.; 6 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Verner D.
