Biography

Jonathan, son of Seth and Rachel (Sherman) Joyce, was born at Marshfield, MA on October 11, 1733. He married Abigail Holmes, daughter of Josiah and Sarah (Rogers) Holmes, at Marshfield on June 7, 1761.

He was a private in the Revolutionary War serving three days in April of 1775 and fourteen days in December of 1776.

Jonathan died between December 10, 1806, the date of his will, and March 6, 1809, the date of probate. He names daughters Rachel Church, Sarah Sherman, Olive Curtis, Mary Joyce, Pamela Lapham, and Mercy Simmons. He appointed his son-in-law, Jonathan Simmons, as sole executor.
