Basil Eric Jurd was born on 30 Jan 1914 in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia as the second child of Walter Frederick Percival "Percy" Jurd and Jeanette Anna Henney. He had six siblings, namely: Pearl, Hilda Jean, Gwendoline Joyce, Una Grace, Kenneth Bernard, and Colleen Jule. He died on 02 Jan 1973 in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. When he was 19, he married Florence May Lethbridge, daughter of Herbert William Lethbridge and Gertrude Ann Baker, on 07 Jun 1933 in West Maitland, New South Wales, Australia.
