Hi Tony,
Thanks for the wedding pictures. Good pictures of all and it looks like all were having a good time. That is what it should be.
I snail mailed the pictures to you yesterday. I wrote on the back of each just what Guy had put on them. I had sent him some pictures of Charles Lucas and he wrote me a note with these pictures enclosed. I have copied off what he wrote about the pictures:
"Many, many thanks for the pictures of Charles Alexanddre Lucas and family.
After I received them, I contacted the Historical Association in Soignies. From them, also, I received good news. They located the farm of the Lucas family before their departure for Iowa.
I went there, and made some photographies of the house. I don't know how far it has changed since 1858 and if the buildings are the same as in 1858, but the house is very old.
There is a small chapel at the entrance, but it seems have been built after 1860. There is a small orchard near the barn with some very old trees. I doubt they are more than 150 years old, but it seems the destination of that lot of ground never changed."
That will help to explain a little about them.
