Clarice “Jane” Mathiasmeier, 80, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at the Accord Senior Care in Wichita. A Mass of Christian burial has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. before the funeral. Father Sam Brand will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Jane was born September 28, 1939, to Fred A. and Marguerite (Yarnold) Kappel in Higgins, TX. She attended schools in Goddard, then Arkansas City where she graduated from Ark City High School in 1957. After high school Jane attended college in Denton, Texas.

On June 1, 1963, she married Walter Mathiasmeier in Arkansas City where the couple made their home with their son Kurt. Jane worked at the city clerk’s office for several years before going to work for USD 470 as an administrative assistant to the activities director. She worked for USD 470 at the Arkansas City High School for 20+ years until her retirement. Jane was a devoted homemaker and gardener. She loved taking walks outside, riding her bike to the school in the summer, helping people in need, baking for her family, friends, and church functions, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Jane was a member of the Beta Kappa Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, and a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son Kurt Mathiasmeier of Sanford, FL; sister Mary Curless of Arkansas City; grandchildren Bailey and Grady Mathiasmeier of Casselberry, FL; nephew Justin Curless and spouse Sammi of Austin, TX; uncle Lue Yarnold and spouse Rama of Wichita, KS; cousins Greg Yarnold and wife Jen and their son Will of Wichita, KS; Doug Schneider and wife Gilah of Arvada, CO. Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walter.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com .
