Biography

Wendell Phillip Keeler was born on July 14, 1909, in Lake Benton, Lincoln, Minnesota, to Elmer Keeler and Harriet Carlisle.[1] He completed through the 4th year of high school.[2]

In 1910, they were still residing here, and he had five siblings.[3]

They moved to Pipestone at some time before 1918, where they lived at 318 Eliza Street.[4] Three of his father's brothers (Benjamin, Harry, and George) joined them with Richard's seven siblings here. [5]

They had moved in the same town to 616 West Olive by 1930, where only two of his siblings were still living with them.[6]

He was married to Francana Duke on June 27, 1933, in Flandreau, Moody, South Dakota.[7] They had moved back to Pipestone, near his family before 1935, and in 1940 he was still employed here as a laborer for the government. They were renting a house at 506 W. Main Street in 1940, with three children.

He was enlisted to serve in World War 2 on October 24, 1943, and mustered out on December 4, 1945.[8]

He died on May 8, 1985, in Scott County, Minnesota.[9] At the time, his last known residence waqs in Chaska, Carver, Minnesota.[10] He is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Plot Q, 0, 3973.[8]

Marriage Date Discrepancy

He was married to Francana Duke on June 29, 1932, in Flandreau, Moody, South Dakota, according to family records.[1] However, the marriage certificate date of June 27, 1933, is considered more accurate, given the source.
