Mary was born about 1836 in North Leigh, Oxfordshire.
Marriage
Joseph Smith and Mary Ann Keen were married in North Leigh, Oxfordshire on 22nd September 1856[1]. They were bachelor and spinster. Joseph was 30, a labourer living in Handborough and the son of Stephen Smith who was a labourer. Mary was 20, a gloveress living in North Leigh and the daughter of James Keen who was a mason. Mary signed her own name on the register whilst Joseph could only make his mark with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were Albert Cook and Mary Shepherd[2].
