John Keithley was born on May 11, 1857 in Missouri, United States, son of Hiram Keithley (1824–1892) and Anna Rebecca Soutee (1826– ).

In 1860, John (3) was living in Rich Woods and Point Precinct, Calhoun with his father, Hiram (35); his sister, Nevada (6); and Anna Keithby (33), Caroll Keithby (5), James Keithby (1), Henry Bond (31), Jos Minesinger (21), and John Delany (17). ^[1]

In 1870, John (13) was living in Point Election Precinct, Calhoun with his father, Hiram (50); his sister, Nevada (16); and Ann S Keithly (44), Kirl Keithly (15), Stephan Keithly (12), and Newton Smith (21). ^[2]

In 1900, John (43) was living in Dardenne Township, St. Charles with John A Keithly (undefined), and Josephine Keithly (undefined). ^[3]

In 1910, John (53) was living in Camden Ward 1, Ray with John A Keithly (undefined), and Josephine Keithly (undefined). ^[4]

John died on October 21, 1915, aged 58.^{[5] [6]}
