Private Thomas Kelley served in the United States Civil War. Side: USA Regiment(s): Tennessee 10th Volunteer Infantry
Thomas enlisted during the American Civil War, as a Private with Company A of the Tennessee 10th Volunteer Infantry, fighting on the side of the Union.[4]
After the war, Thomas and Lucinda began their family, farming in District 11 of Wayne County, Tennessee.[5] By 1880, the family had grown to include five children.[6] Thomas's and Lucinda Kelley had nine known children together, including two, Eleanor (1863-) and Hannah (1886-), who died in infancy or in early childhood.
Lucinda Kelley passed away in 1888 and Thomas remarried later that year, marrying Louisa (Clay) Kelley, the daughter of Thomas Newton Clay and Sabra Darby Ray. Louisa had been married previously to Joseph A. Chambers (1843-1881, with whom she had nine children. Thomas had at least two children with Louisa, neither of whom appear to have lived into adulthood:
Daniel Kelley (1893-)
Alvin Cicero Kelley (1911-)
The blended family lived at Thomas Kelley's farm in Civil District 4 of Wayne County.[7] Thomas Kelley passed away in Collinwood, Tennessee[citation needed] in 1915 and is buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery in rural Wayne County.[8]
