Lucy was born in Westfield, Massachusetts on 13 April 1742. The record reads as follows: KELLOGG, Lucy; Dau. - Moses and Mary (Bellden); Born - Apr. 13, 1742[1]
Lucy Kellogg was the second of fourteen children of Moses and Mary (Belding) Kellogg of Westfield. She married Jacob Carner about 1763 in Westfield, Hampden Co. They had seven children: Mary, Lodowick, Solomon, Silas, Stephen, Pliny and Parmelia.
The family appeared in two US Census records in Egremont, Sheffield County, Massachusetts. In 1790, Jacob and Lucy had five children in the home.[2] As the eldest two were both in their twenties by this time and probably married, that’s a pretty good fit with the others. Ten years later, just two remain, plus there is a girl under ten.[3]
Lucy reached 74 years of age and died in Egremont, Berkshire Co., on 28 February 1817. She was buried in Town House Hill Cemetery, Egremont Co. The gravestone reads: “Sacred to the Memory of Mrs. LUCY KARNER Wife of Mr. Jacob Karner who departed this life February 28, 1817 in the 76th year of her age”[4]
