Biography

According to Burke's Irish Family Records 1976 p. 656:
"John, of Kellybrook, m1791, Mary, dau of John Bonynge, of Carrownurlar, co Roscommon, and d 1825."

John's death was reported in the Westmeath Journal of 7 April 1825:^[1]

On the 28th March, at his house, in Ballycumber, King's County, John Kelly, Esq., eldest son of the late Herbert Kelly, of Kellybrooke, in this County, Esq.

John was the son of Richard Bonynge Kelly and Ann Anderson, both of Ireland. He was the grandson of John Kelly & Mary Bonynge (dau. of John Bonynge & Margaret North). John arrived in Victoria in 1860 aboard the "Great Tasmania" with brothers, Richard Bonynge Kelly and George Bonynge Kelly.
The Australia Death Index, Victoria Death fiche, Victoria, Australia, Cemetery Records and Headstone Transcriptions, 1844-1997 & the Australia, Victoria, Index to Probate Registers do not agree with the death date on his grave. I have used the date on these records.
