Biography

Sarah was born in Weston, Berkshire and baptised in nearby Welford on 24th February 1805, the daughter of William & Ann Kemp.

Sarah's first marriage was to William Marshall. They are seen on the 1841 census with their children Ann (5), Charles (3) and William (1).

After William's death, the record of Sarah's subsequent marriage to Samuel Kerley (son of Elias) names her as "Ann" Marshall, although this could be a transcription error.

In 1851, Samuel is elsewhere, and Sarah is seen with all of the aforementioned children listed with the surname Kerley, along with her two children with Samuel, Henrietta (6) and George (4).
