Birth: Hannah was born June 13, 1784 in Guilford County, North Carolina, eldest daughter of John Kendall and Ann Underhill.[1] She had six younger siblings, Thomas, Lydia, Sarah, Ruth, John, and Nathan, and seven younger half siblings, Nancy, Asenath, James, Gulielma, Ahimaaz, Hira, and Elvira. Hannah was born to a Quaker father and a non-Quaker mother. Her father was disowned for his marriage but was later accepted back into the meeting, and Ann converted. The 1787 record of their acceptance[2] reads "men friends informs this meeting that John Kendall and his wife Ann requests for their daughter Hannah to be joined in membership with us she being in minority, this meeting grants their request."
Married Richard Day on February 9, 1803 in Guilford County, North Carolina.[3] The original record reads in part "Whereas Richard Day Junior son of Richard and Deborah Day of Guilford County State of No Carolina an Hannah Kendall daughter of John & Ann his wife deceased of Randolph County & state aforesaid ... they accomplished their marriage the 9th day of the 2nd month in the year 1803." Witnesses included Richard Day, Deborah Day, John Kendall, Elizabeth Kendall, A. Hoggatt, Tabitha Hoggatt, Malon Hoggatt, Elizabeth Small, John Clark, Phebe Hoggatt, Nathan Hoggatt, Elizabeth Tomlinson.
Death: Hannah died July 8, 1817, likely in Guilford County, North Carolina, age 33.[4]
1. Martha Day: Martha was born August 20, 1804 in Guilford County, North Carolina. She moved to Morgan County, Indiana in her teens and died there August 24, 1857, age 53, having never married.
2. Ann Day: Ann was born December 29, 1805 in Guilford County. She moved to Morgan County, Indiana as a young woman and there married Joseph Plummer on August 2, 1832. They had nine children: Mary (1833), Martha (1834), Thomas (1836), Levi (1837), Hannah (1839), Fanny (1839), John (1842), Anna P. (1845), and Richard D. (1848). She died in Hendricks County, Indiana on January 18, 1870, age 64.
3. John Day: John was born August 8, 1807 in Guilford County, North Carolina. He moved to Morgan County, Indiana as a boy and married Edith Lowder there on March 14, 1832. They had six children: Thomas (1834), Warner L. (1835), Caleb (1839), Juliann (1841), Nathan (1843), and Richard (1846). He died in Morgan County on February 26, 1874, age 66.
4. William Day: William was born January 2, 1809 in Guilford County. He moved to Morgan County, Indiana as a boy and married Ann Dixon there on October 20, 1832. They had eight children: Hannah B. (1833), Cynthia (1835), Mary E. (1849), Silas (1853), and Sarah (1860). He died in Indiana on September 19, 1868, age 59.
5. Nathan Day: Nathan was born January 29, 1811 in Guilford County and died in Morgan County, Indiana on June 27, 1837, age 26.
6. Richard Day: Richard was born December 3, 1812 in Guilford County. He married Rachel Carey on December 21, 1837. They had ten children: Rhoda (1838), Mary (1841), Susanna (1843), John (1845), Hannah (1849), Thomas (1851), William (1854), Warner (1857), Elwood W. (1858), Levi (1863). They moved to Iowa and he did in Guthrie County on December 30, 1864, age 52.
7. Deborah Day: Deborah was born August 7, 1814 in Guilford County. She married Benjamin Pickett about 1837. They had no known children and she died on September 16, 1867 in Hendricks County, age 53.
8. Thomas Day: Thomas was born June 9, 1816 in Guilford County and died November 1, 1829 in Morgan County, Indiana, age 13.
