Edward Lee Kennedy was born on September 15, 1890 in Corydon, Harrison, Indiana, United States, son of James Kennedy (1855–1894) and Elizabeth Agnes Emily (1866–1938).

In 1910, Edward Kenedy (19), was a single son, in the household of Agnes Kenedy (45) in Beatrice Ward 1, Gage, Nebraska, United States. [2]

Edward (27) married Carrie Hazel Knowles (27) (born on August 6, 1890 in Beatrice, Gage; daughter of William Henry Knowles Sr and Olive Jane (Wilson) Knowles) on December 26, 1917 in Rock Island County, Illinois, United States.[4] [5] Their daughter was Mary Ellen Kennedy (1918–1987).
