Birth & Baptism

George Lovell Norton Keys was born on 14 August 1907. He is the son of Lovell Francis William Keys and Christiana Edith Stubbs. ^[1] His baptism took place on 15 September 1907 at St Augustine in Doornfontein, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. The sponsors are listed as F.A.G. Keys, F. Stubbs and J. Stubbs.^[1]

Travel

George Keys departed the port of London, England aboard the Balranald on 21 August 1924 for the Cape, South Africa. He was accompanied by his parents Lovell Francis William Keys & Christiana E. Keys and his sister Margaret M. Keys. George was 16-years-old at the time of the voyage.^[2]

Marriage

George married Myrtle Martha Combrink on 28 December 1929 in Kimberley, Cape Province, South Africa. At the time of marriage they were both living at the Railway Hotel in Kimberley. According to the marriage register he was working as a farmer.^[3][4]
