Biography

Jane Eleanor was born on 1 January 1874[1] at Taita, Hutt, New Zealand. She was the daughter of Alfred Keys and Jane Susannah Welch.

She married Frederick Clark on 6 July 1901[2] at The Manse, 25 Pirie St, Wellington. They had four children.

  1. Alan Walker (1902[3] - 1970[4])
  2. Ivan Noel (1906[5] - 1906[6])
  3. Douglas Gordon Galloway (1906[7] - 2000[8])
  4. George (1910[9] - 1972[10])

In 1905 she was living at Oriental Street, Petone with her husband Frederick a farmer, both being registered on the Hutt Electoral Roll[11]. By 1919 they had moved to 27 William Street, Petone[12]. Her husband was now a machinist. In 1928 they were living at 8 Tennyson Street, Petone[13]. Her husband was an iron machinist, her son Alan was a clerk, and her son Douglas listed on the Supplementary Electoral Roll was a seaman.

Her husband Frederick died on 29 July 1936[14] at their home at 8 Tennyson Street, Petone[15]. In 1938 she was still living at the same address, but now listed as a widow on the Hutt Electoral Roll[16]. No children were living with her now. She continued to live at that address, still being there in 1957[17].

Jane died on 26 November 1959 aged 85 years old[18]. She was buried in Taita Old Cemetery, Lower Hutt, Block A C.E. Plot 276 next to her husband[19].
