Biography
Jeanette Lehlia Aeschlimann
Funeral service for Jeanette Lehlia Aeschlimann, a longtime Cortez, NM resident, are scheduled for Monday, June 4, at the Trinity Lutheran Church beginning at 11 a.m. Visitation will be on Monday prior to the service at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Pastor David Dahl will officiate. Interment will be at the Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
Jean was born on December 26, 1905 in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada to Martin Luther and Jennie Mary (Fairweather) Killam. She passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home in NM at the age of 95.
She worked as a pediatric registered nurse in the Health Care industry in Boston, Mass. prior to her marriage to Robin A. Aeschlimann. Jean and Rob in were wed in Norfolk, Va., on Aug. 19, 1940.
She then followed Robin, who was in the Navy, during the war and set up home wherever they found themselves. Jean was a true partner to her husband later becoming a farmer's wife in Missouri. She was a loving mother and wonderful mother-in-law. She joined the Lutheran church at her marriage and became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church when she moved to Cortez.
Surviving Jean are her son, Scott (Judy) Aeschlimann of Cortez NM; grandsons, David A. Aeschlimann of Aztec, N.M., and Mark E. Aeschlimann of Parachute, Colo.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Robin A. Aeschlimann who passed away in 1976; grandson, John E. Aeschlimann; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions can be made in Jean Aeschlimann's name to the Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home in Cortez, NM.
