Biography

Fareby was born in 30 April 1837 in Tennessee. [1]

Benjamin's younger sister, Aberilla, married James King on October 23, 1845, in Pike County.[2]

James King, Faraby's brother and Benjamin's brother-in-law signed an affidavit consenting to the marriage on 7 February 1846. The document was witnessed by Samuel G Likely. [3]

Benjamin married Fareby King, on February 12, 1846, in Pike county. [4]

Benjamin and Fareby were living in township 5S 5W in Pike county in 1850. They had their first two sons by then. Fareby's brother, James, was split up from Aberilla and was living with the Purcell family. Benjamin and James were both said to be Coopers, [5] perhaps working together? Note that 5S 5W was not Pleasant Vale township which was 5S 6W. [6]

The 1870 Census shows the Purcell family living in Pleasant Vale, Pike County, Illinois on 13 July 1870. [7] [8]

Benjamin and Fareby were farming in Pleasant Vale, with 9 boys still at home in 1870.[8] Their farm can be seen on an 1872 plat map in the NW corner in section 6.

In the 1900 census, Benjamin, Fareby and their son, Robert, were living together, probably still at the same farm.[9]

Fareby died 12 November 1911 after a three-day fight with Erysipelas. The informant was Robert Purcell of Hull, Illinois.

She was buried in Gard Cemetery in Pike County on 15 November 1911. Her undertaker was Ed Keller. [1]
