Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Elizabeth (Unknown) Loving was a Virginia colonist.

Elizabeth may have been born about 1605-1615 in Warwickshire, England. Her parents and last name at birth are unknown. Some online family trees have suggested either "Beverly" or "Stanton." No documentation has been provided. There are several Elizabeths on record with either surname who were born in England during the relevant periond.

Elizabeth married first Thomas Kingston before 1636. No children of this marriage have been documented.

Following the death of Thomas Kingston in 1636, Elizabeth married Thomas Loving before 1638 in James City, Virginia.[1]

Research Notes

I believe there are multiple errors in this branch. Elizabeth was the widow of Thomas Kingston before she married Thomas Loving before 1639.

Information regarding Thomas Kingston, Elizabeth's first husband:

  • Kingston, Thomas - A4604; Martin's Hundred: 1629 (Burgess). Jamestown Society Qualifying Ancestor.[2][3]
  • Listed in a land grant for John Dennett, 10 August 1635, as owning land "Nly. into the forrest betweene Martins hundred & Kiskiake ..."[4]
  • Thomas Kaynton [Kingston] was a factor for Thomas Covell of City of London who had "been an adventurer to Virginia since about 1623." Thomas died in 1636 and his widow married Thomas Loving before 1638.[5]
  • Thomas Kinston is listed as among the living "in the maine" in Virginia 16 February 1623/4.[6]

Lady Elizabeth Ann was born in 1614. She passed away in 1665.
