On 19 November 1887 at the Wakefield registry office, she married Joseph, second son of the late William Thomas of Kent, England.

They lived at Wellington until 1904 when she left him on account of cruelty; there were three children. Decree nisi was granted 21 June 1907 with Frances having custody.

She married Leonard Henry Kingston on 7 October 1907 at the registry office in Auckland.

Leonard recorded her as a spinster when filling in his military application. They went on to have one child, Basil in 1909.
She passed away 27 March 1943 "age 73" at Green Lane Hospital, Auckland, and was buried at Hillsborough.[6][7][8]
