Name: Pleasant Isaiah Kirkland

Pleasant was born in Alabama, USA on 25 Jul 1885[1] the son of Francis Posey Kirkland and Nancy Elizabeth (Whiddon) Kirkland. Pleasant worked as a farmer learning his trade from his father on his Newville, Henry , Alabama farm.[2]

P. I. (Pleasant Isaiah) married Lydia Brackin on 26 Jan 1905 in Henry County, Alabama[3] and together they raised a family of 6 children that reached adulthood; Reda (Kirkland) Barnes, Ruby Elizabeth (Kirkland) Brackin, P I Kirkland, Elna Fay (Kirkland) Barber,[4] Collie Edward Kirkland, and James Harold Kirkland.[5] Pleasant, with a young family, registered for the WW I draft in 1918[6]

Pleasant Isaiah Kirkland passed away 8 Dec 1973[7] and was buried in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry County, Alabama.[8][9]
