He married 1) Elizabeth Williams, 2) Louise Hall, and 3) Martha ___, based on family records shared by Davis Shull. The second marriage appears to have ended in divorce. He had issue from the first two marriages.
George Washington Kirkland remained in South Carolina after his parents departed for Alabama. Family information indicates he made his home site between the Forks of the Edisto River. The area, after several boundary changes, became Aiken County.

William - born ca. 1840, died in Harrison, Georgia, married Savannah Kirkland, a daughter of Tillman Kirkland;
Sarah Elizabeth born 1844[3] She doesn't appear on the 1860 census with her parents, as she is already married & appears as age 16 with her husband. Her death certificate lists her father as George Kirkland and her mother as a Williams.

His second marriage was to Louise Hall. The children of the second marriage were[4]:

Bolivar Lemuel, Senior - born 17 August 1872, died 27 November 1954, married Sally Hall
