Elsie May Krkland was born on 11 Jan. 1916. She is the daughter of Benjamin Kirkland and Evelyn Ceruti.
Elsie was an art director in the "child evangelism" industry. She remained single throughout her life. Elsie passed away on 13 Nov 1950 in Columbia, Richland, South Carolina, USA. The cause of death was "melanosarcoma of the right retina" a disease she contracted 4 1/2 years prior to her death. The major finding of her operation on 27 Jan. 1947 was "enucleation of the right eye." Her remains were buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Columbia, South Carolina.
From the posted obituary "The State" 14 November 1950: Elise was the single daughter of Benjamin B. Kirkland and Evelyn E. Ceruti. Elsie lived at 511 Byrd St., Columbia at the time of her death. She died at the Columbia Hospital of melanosarcoma of the right retina. She had her eye removed in an operation (enucleation) 27 Jan 1947. The informant was her sister, Mrs. A.D. Bennett.
