Biography

Henrietta Kitchen employed as a general servant and living at 19 Marl Street Middlesbrough gave birth to her first child John William on 11 Oct 1909 at 101 Cemetery Road in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England. The house where John was born was occupied by E. Ward who registered the birth for Henrietta two days after the birth. Henrietta was single at that time so the birth was registered in Henrietta's maiden name of 'Kitchen'. John grew up in Middlesbrough and moved to Newcastle upon Tyne when he started working as an Engineers fitter. There he met 17 year old Maud Moran who he married on 3rd November 1931 at the Register Office, Newcastle upon Tyne in the County of Northumberland. John was 21 years old and working as an engineers fitter at the time of the marriage. John and Maud had four children, three sons and one daughter. Sadly one of their sons called Dennis died at the age of 10 years. Soon after the marital relationship broke down and Maud moved to Tring in Hertfordshire to be near her sister Doris taking their three surviving children with her. John later moved to Tring but the couple were never reconciled and eventually divorced just before john retired from his engineering job. Later in life John was unable to care for himself due to developing dementia. He then moved to Jupiter House a nursing home in Hemel Hempstead where he died in 1995.
