The 1850 census places Nancy Kitchens' birth year as about 1823 (age 27) but the ages and listings of her siblings in estate records of their father make 1820 more likely.
Her identity was uncovered in the final settlement record of her father, James M. Kitchens of Walker County, Alabama, where Nancy's children were named as her heirs.
Amongst many other errors on the Kitchens family, Dombhart's History of Walker County, Alabama, erroneously lists Nancy's husband as James F. Robinson instead of John and her birthdate as 1813 and her death as 1889.
Nancy died sometime after her son James Thomas Roberson was born on 30 Aug 1854 and before the 1860 census. Her two youngest children, James and Frances, went to live with their grandfather, James M. Kitchens, where they are sometimes listed under his name of Kitchens in census records but are clearly Roberson or Robinson in his estate records.
