Elbert W Kitchens was enumerated at Marysville Post Office, Shooting Creek Township, Clay County, North Carolina for the July 26, United States Census, 1870. He was noted as born 1865-1866 in North Carolina as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Jason Kitchens, female Elisabeth Kitchens, male Milford G Kitchens, female Mary T Kitchens, male Lambert Kitchens, female Martha E Kitchens, male Ephram Kitchens, female Mary Kitchens, male William Ledford and female Elisabeth Ledford.[1]

Elbert Kitchins was enumerated as son at Shooting Creek, Clay County, , North Carolina for the June 16, United States Census, 1880. He was noted as works on farm, born 1866 in North Carolina and single as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are self Jason Kitchins, wife Elisabeth Kitchins, son Lambert Kitchins, daughter Marthey Kitchins, daughter Ider Kitchins and boarder Andrew Shelton.[2]
