Biography
Obit clip: Edith Kitchens, a native of Butler County, a former waitress for Tangerine Restaurant and a member of Lynn Acres Baptist Church. Survivors: two daughters, Sharon Waters of Clarksville, Ind., and Agnes Geary; two sons, Carious Ragland of Clarksville and Del Ragland; a sister, Poca Doolin of Dunbar; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her obit uses her maiden name and doesn't mention Courtland. However, she's listed as his wife in his obit. Married Courtland when she was 16; see details on his page.
She is quoted in a 1947 newspaper article:[1] about inflation: "I don't see how we could live on any less than we make now. My husband was sick all during the war and we didn't lay up anything while wages were high. So we can't buy any property and I don't see how we can pay more for rent." They were paying $41/month for a 5-room apartment.
