Eliza Kitchens Humphries Person 3 in Humphries Cemetery. Inscription and Notes: Mrs. Eliza Kitchings Humphries was born Feb 29th, 1836 and died June 17th, 1907. She was the daughter of Boaz and Mary Kitchings, being the eldest of nine children. She was born in Jones County and lived here until her death. On July 13th, 1854 she was married to John S Humphries. Husband and wife lived together 53 years and died within four days of each other. Both were on the bed of affliction at the same time and has been confined there for years.
What a pleasure it was for the children to wait on the dear old father and mother and how they miss them! She was a devoted mother. Her teachings will never be forgotten. The funeral was conducted by Rev T.E. Davenport, of East Macon, under the shade of the trees and she was laid to rest by her husband to await the resurrection morn.
