Biography

William Klice was born in Frederick County, Maryland in 1796. When he was just a young boy, his family moved north to the Finger Lakes District of New York. They settled near Dresden in Yates County. His father was a blacksmith, and William eventually took up the same trade. [1]

Residence

Census records show that William moved around quite a bit over the years, but that he never strayed far from Yates County. He is not listed separately in the 1800 and 1820 censuses, but was probably living in the household of his father, Henry Clice (or Clise).
