Elizabeth Knapp was born ca 1734, a daughter of Israel Knapp and Mary Lyon.[1] She was probably born in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her mother was born in Greenwich. Her parents were married in Greenwich, and her father died in Stamford. Both Greenwich and Stamford were in Fairfield County.
Elizabeth apparently did not marry.[2] In her father's will, dated June 1, 1777, she is mentioned by her maiden name, as "Elizabeth Knapp."[1]
She is mentioned in her father's will, placing her date of death after June 1777.[1]

Putnam Cottage…during the Revolutionary War was owned by Captain Israel Knapp, and kept as a tavern by him. He had two sons, Timothy and Israel; and five daughters, Mary, who married Stephen Mead, a Revolutionary soldier; Elizabeth, never married; Hannah who married Abraham Husted, a Revolutionary soldier; Amy who died young; and Amy, who married Captain Jabez Fitch. Jabez Fitch was town clerk and registrar all through the Revolutionary War and for many years thereafter, and also a Revolutionary soldier…
