Biography

The daughter of Albert Knaur and Margaret (Kelley) Knaur, Nettie Knaur was born in Texas in 1884.^{[citation needed]} Her family migrated back east before 1900, farming in Momence Township, Illinois, in Kankakee County.^[1] Nettie Knaur married Lewis Henry Guertin (1874-1938), the son of Exor Peter Guertin and Carena Cynthia Julian, marrying in Kankakee County on September 23, 1908^[2] and having four children together:

1. Vera Frances Guertin (1909-1972)
2. Exor Allen Guertin (1912-1986)
3. Lewis W. Guertin (1914-1977)
4. Lovis Guertin (1915-)

They made their home in 1910 in Indianapolis, Indiana,^[3] where her husband worked as a machinist in an automobile factory. In 1920, they lived in Ganeer Township, Indiana, back in Kankakee County.^[4] In 1930, they lived in Momence Township, Illinois.^[5] Her husband passed away there in 1938; in 1940, Nettie Guertin lived in Momence.^[6] Nothing is known of her passing.
