John Kneisly war born September 21, 1752, in York county, Pennsylvania. John made his residence in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, where he served with Captain Jacob Wilhelm's 8th Battalion, during the American Revolutionary War. [1] John died December 15, 1834, in Dover Township, Tuscarawas county, Ohio. John married Mary Miller. Application for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by the ancestors of his sons, Abraham Kneisly, who married Rachel Wolf; Samuel Kneisly, who married Sarah Shanks; and of his daughter Sarah Kneisley, who married Philip Minich.
