Biography

Birth

The ancestry of Nehemiah Knowles is uncertain. His FindAGrave memorial says that he was the son of Silas and Susanna (Cobb) Knowles, and while this is not proven, it is very likely; he was a resident of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), when he published his marriage intention in 1816,^[1] Silas and Susanna Knowles were known to be living at Livermore in 1807 when their son John was born there,^[2] and he is buried at the same cemetery where Silas and Susanna Knowles were buried. His age at his death on his gravestone is indistinct, but it appears to compute to a birth date of about 17 Dec 1794.^[3] He was probably born at Truro, Massachusetts, where Silas Knowles and Susanna Cobb married in 1791^[4] and where they were living in 1800.^[5]

Marriage

On 26 Non 1816, Nehemiah Knowles and Rebeckah Morse, both of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), published at Livermore their intention to marry.^[1]

Death

A gravestone at the Corinna Center Cemetery in Corinna, Maine, says that Nehemiah Knowles died on 25 Jun 1823, and the age at death on the gravestone appears to be 28 years, 8 months, 7 days.^[3]
