Her son's death record (Jean Baptiste Hermas) has she was born in Trois Riviere, Quebec.
As per "A Canadian Family" First Nations, French Canadians & Acadians website, Marguerite's father George Knowles was of Norfolk, England and her mother was M. Marguerite Hudon dit Beaulieu and the couple arrived in Shippagan around 1837.
