Biography

Francis Kristan was an Iowan.

Frances Kristan Christian was born on January 4, 1900, in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa, to John Kristan a.k.a. John Christian and Mary Stephanek Kristan (source is from death certificate but I'm not including it since it has her social security number).

In 1910, Fannie Kristan (age 9 - name as recorded), lived at 1313 So. Frist Street E., in Cedar Rapids, with her father John Kristan (age 43 - worked as a laborer in a slaughter house), her mother Mary (age 38), her sister Tillie (age 18 - worked in laundry), her brother John (age 15 - worked as a bell boy at a hotel), her brother Joseph (age 13), her sister Mary (age 11), her sister Annie (age 7 - born in Iowa) and her sister Lydie (age 4 - born in Iowa)[1].

In 1920, Francis Kristan (age 19 - name as recorded and worked as a telephone operator), lived at 80 22nd Avenue, in Cedar Rapids, with her father John (age 53 - worked as a laborer in a packing house), her mother Mary (age 47), her sister Mary (age 21 - worked as a wrapper for a packing house), her sister Anna (age 17 - worked as a clasper for a glove factory), her sister Liddy (age 13) and her sister Lucile (age 9 - born in Iowa)[2].

In 1925, Francis (age 24), lived in Cedar Rapids, with her father John (age 58), her mother Marie (age 52), her sister Marie (age 26), her sister Anna (age 22), her sister Lydia (age 18) and her sister Lucill (age 13 - name as recorded)[3].

In 1930, Francis (age 28 - worked as a meat packer in a packing house), lived at 80 22nd Avenue, in Cedar Rapids, with her mother Mary (age 58 and widowed), her sister Mary (age 30 - worked as a book binder) and her sister Lucile (age 19 - worked as a meat packer in a packing house)[4].

In 1940, Francis Christian (age 39 - name as recorded and worked as a wrapper for a wholesale packing house), lived at 80 22nd Avenue S.W., in Cedar Rapids, with her mother Mary (age 69 and widowed), her sister Mary (age 41 - worked as a book binder), her sister Anna (age 37 - worked as a book binder) and her sister Lucille (age 29 - worked as a wrapper for a wholesale packing house)[5].

In 1950, Francis Christian (age 49 - worked as a wrapper for a meat packer), lived at 80 22nd Avenue, in Cedar Rapids, with her mother Mary Christian (age 78 and widowed), her sister Mary (age 51 - worked as a book binder for a printing shop) and her sister Anna (age 47 - divorced and worked as a food server in a cafeteria)[6].

Frances Kristan Christian (age 66 - worked in the bacon department of a meat packing company), passed away of Mitral Insufficiency, due to Rheumatoid Cardiovascular Disease, on December 12, 1966, at Mercy Hospital, in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa and was buried on December 14, 1966, in Czech National Cemetery, in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa (source is from death certificate but I'm not including it since it has her social security number).
