Noah was born 23 May 1811, probably in Jackson County, Tennessee as that is where his parents were living at the time. [1] His parents were
Jesse Kuykendall and Jenny Hall. [2]
On 4 October 1832 in Jackson County Tennessee, Noah married Katherine Anderson[3][4] They were the parents of ten children. These children were Garland, Josiah, James, Young, Jasper, Newton, Frances, Mary, Peter, and Martha. [5]
Noah and his family can be found in the 1850 census records of Jackson County. [6] In 1860 they appear in census records for the newly created Putnam County Tennessee. [7] The 1870 census records for Putnam County show Noah and Katherine's household which includes daughter Martha and granddaughter Olive. [8] The 1880 census records for Putnam County show the same occupants as the previous 1870 with the addition of a grandson Martin Kuykendall. [9]
Noah died on 6 July 1893 in Putnam County, Tennessee. [10] He is buried in Smyrna Cemetery located in Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee.
Research Notes
Although the Find a Grave memorial lists the name as Noah Hampton Kuykendall, there is no evidence that this particular Noah Kuykendall used or even had a middle name. There may have been a man named Noah Hampton Kuykendall in this area in a different generation of this family, but he is not the same as Noah Kuykendall who died in 1893. There is no middle name on his tombstone, not in his obituary, or in any of the court records or deeds located for Noah Kuykendall.
