Biography

Homer E. LaBar was born in 11 August 1893 [1] in Michigan, United States toEugene LaBar and Nellie French. In 1900, Homer was living in Nelson township Sand Lake village, Kent, Michigan, United States with his mother and brother, Fennie. [2]

In 1910, Homer was living in Nelson, Kent, Michigan, United States with his parents and siblings. He was 16 and no longer attended school. He worked as a farm laborer on the family farm. [3]

Homer registered for the United States World War I draft on 5 June 1917. At the time, he was living in Keene, Saranac, Ionia, Michigan and was self-employed as a farmer. He was of medium height and build with dark brown eyes and black hair. Homer was single but reported he assisted in supporting his parents. In a question asking if he was disabled, he had reported "rupture." [4]

Homer enlisted in the United States Army on 27 August 1918 at Camp Custer in Michigan, United States. He served as a Private in the 12th Company, 160th Depot Brigade. [5] Homer also served as a Private with Co G 14th Ammunition Train. [6]

Homer passed away on 12 October 1918 [7] in Charleston Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, United States. He is buried at East Nelson Cemetery in Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan, United States. [8]
