Biography

Sarah Hester laFollette was born 16 September 1874 in Cass, Missouri to Walter Briscoe LaFollette and Julia Ann Dodd. She married Walter August Decker 19 Feb 1896 in Cass Co. Mo.

They had seven children. Daughter Ruby was born in 1897 and son Charles Laverne in 1898 all in Missouri. Daughter Lucile was born in Texas in 1900. Daughter Gracie in 1903 in Texas as was Son Louis born 1905. Daughter Irma known as Toots, was born in Arkansas in 1912, Daughter Shirley born in in 1914 in Carthage Missouri. In 1935 they were living in Chambers Texas according to the 1940 census and in Harris county in 1940 as a chicken farmer.

They were farmers and moved often during the hard years of the depression. She and her husband spent the their last years in the home of two of their daughters in Galveston Texas, where she passed away 8 March 1959.
