On the 17 September 1765, by banns, Samuel married Mary Wilson CULLINGHAM in Saint Margaret, Lowestoft. Their names were recorded as Samuel LAUNE and Mary CULLINGHAM. They were single persons of this parish. The witnesses were Peter PENNINGTON and Susanna PENNNINGTON. Samuel and Mary signed with their marks. [2] The entry reads as follows:

Last Years
Samuel's last son, John, was baptised posthumously on the 13 April 1770. Samuel's widow, Mary, married William SALLOES on the 2 April 1776. Therefore, it is assumed that Samuel passed away before the 13 April 1770.
Research Note
In the baptism record, the surname looks like LOAR. However, close inspection and comparison with the other handwriting confirms it is LAAN.
