Ralph Alexander Ladd was born on 17 Feb 1891 in Dublin, Ireland as the seventh child of Thomas Ladd and Anna Varian.

He had six siblings, namely: Hester May, Susan Alice, John Isaac, Mary Ellen, Anna Varian “Nancie”, and Thomas William. He died on 09 Mar 1956 in Dublin, Ireland. When he was 33, he married Evelyn Mary Morrison on 07 Oct 1924 in Church of our Lady Help of Christians , Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. When he was 26, he married Margaret Elizabeth 'Marjorie' Bell, daughter of Samuel Bell, on 10 Sep 1917 in Banbridge, Ireland.
