Obituary

G. Ronald Laird, 77, of 615 N 3rd St., Monmouth, died at 2 a.m. today in his home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at the Hoover Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William Nordstrom, pastor of the Belmont United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 pm tomorrow at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Belmont Church.

Mr. Laird was born July 9, 1902 in Bald Bluff community, a son of George and Martha Sloan Laird.

On Oct. 15, 1924 he married Velva Hale in Aledo. They farmed in Henderson County.

He was a member of the Belmont Church and the Henderson County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Simmons, Haughton, La. and Mrs. Paul Osborn, LaGrange, Ill.; three sons, Ronald, Littleton, Colo.; George, Little York, Ill, and Robert, LaSalle, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.[1]
