Obituary Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Ella Mae Leger, age 92, the former Ella Mae Landry, who passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 9:26 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus and Jewel Trosclair. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, Hail Mary Gentle Woman, Here I Am Lord, and One Bread, One Body.
Mrs. Leger was a native of Sunset, where she lived most of her life. She had been a resident of Lafayette since 2005. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott. She was a member of the St. Anne Society of St. Peter Church in Carencro and belonged to a rosary group with St. John Berchmans Church in Cankton. Mrs. Leger, along with her husband, owned St. Landry Packing Company of Sunset. She was a fantastic cook who thoroughly enjoyed hosting gatherings with family and friends. She was a gifted artist and seamstress and had a passion for crocheting. She loved to travel, having visited much of the United States and many cities in Europe. Above all, she will be remembered for her loving, generous spirit by all who knew her.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Leger of Lafayette; two daughters, Dianna Leger and Brenda Reamer, both of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Lance Leger and companion, Geri Klumpp, of Carencro, Cassidy Leger Richard and husband, Cory, of Carencro, Joseph Leger and wife, Krystal, of Port Barre, Andrew Reamer and wife, Monica, of Birmingham, AL, Joshua Reamer and wife, Andrea, of Houston, TX; eight great grandchildren, Luke Leger, Chesley Richard, Ainsley Richard, Maci Leger, Connor Leger, Hana Reamer, Owen Reamer and Eli Reamer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Villior Landry and the former Celeste Comeaux; her husband of 56 years, Odon Leger; two brothers and eight sisters.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Leger, Lance Leger, Joseph Leger, Andrew Reamer, Joshua Reamer and Cory Richard.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
