William Bryant Lane was born on April 9, 1841 in Barnwell, South Carolina, United States, son of Bryant Lane (1810–1897) and Winifred Berry (1810–1890).[1]

William married Cornelia Antoinette Emmerson (born on May 12, 1839 in Alabama, United States). Their children were:
