Biography

Sarah Lane was baptized 17 April 1642 in Milford, New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of John Lane and his first wife Sarah Barnard.[1][2][3][4]

Sarah married Jobamah Gunn on 30 October 1663 in Milford.[5][2][4] They had children.

  1. Samuel Gunn Esq was born 15 January 1669 in Milford; baptized 16 January 1669; married Mercy Smith in 1698.[2][4]
  2. Elizabeth Gunn was born 5 April 1672 in Milford; married Joseph Hawkins in 1693.[2][4]
  3. Sarah Gunn was born 30 March 1674 in Milford; bapized 5 April 1674; married Samuel Miles in 1698.[2][4]
  4. Christian Gunn was born 3 August 1677; baptized 5 August 1677; married (1) deputy governor Henry Botsford in 1700; married (2) John Smith in 1748; married (3) Solomon Ferry in 1757.[2][4]
  5. Abel Gunn was born 5 May 1680 in Milford; baptized 9 May 1680; married Agnes Hawkins.[4]
  6. Nathaniel Gunn was born 24 July 1682 in Milford; baptized 29 November 1685; married Ann Hine in 1711.[2][4]

Her husband is mentioned in her father's will dated 10 September 1669.

Sarah died 1685 in Milford.

Her husband remarried in 1689.[4]

"I John Lane of Milford in ye county of Newhaven, being in perfect memory tho: weake in body doo here make my last will & testament in manner & forme as followeth:

First I bequeath my soule to God & my body to a christian buriall."

Legacies to "my son in law Jobamah Gum," "my son in law Samel Campe," "my son in law Edward Campe,""my daughter in law Mary Campe."

"My will is that my beloved wife Mary Lane shall have all my housing & land, both wood land arrable & meadow ground during her life.

My will is that Immediately after the death of my wife Mary Lane all the above fd houseing & land shall return unto my son Isaac Lane and unto his forever. My debts being paid unto my beloved wife Mary Lane & unto my son Isaac Lane all the rest of my goods & chattels ...whom I make my sole executor and executrix. And I doe appoint & desire my beloved brother, viz. Mr. Wm. East & my friend Samel Eells to be the overseers to see this my will fulfilled. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale, 10th Sept. 1669.
