Biography

Herbert Large was born in the Colony of Queensland (1859-1900)

Herbert Frank Large was born on 21 June 1893 in Brisbane, Queensland. He was the son of John Thomas Large and Amelia Frances Phillips.^[1]

Herbert served in WWI as 86 Driver, 1 Light Horse Brigade Train. In 1916, he fell from the troop train and crushed his right leg and left foot, resulting in amputation of both.

Invalided back to Brisbane, Herbert worked as a clerk.

On 14 September 1918 in Queensland, he married Lilian Hodgson.^[2]

Herbert and Lilian had children, including:

1. Lilian Frances Large m1 Roy Kingsley Kratzmann m2 Mervyn James Everett

He passed away on 21 February 1948 at the Repatriation Military Hospital, Concord, Sydney.^[3]

Herbert was cremated and interred in Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens and Crematorium, Holland Park West, Brisbane.^[4] He is also memorialised at the Queensland Garden of Remembrance, Bridgeman Downs, Brisbane.^[5]
