Biography

There is no recorded Baptism of Alexander Lauder or Death notice (yet identified) for him

Of Note : The surviving grandchildren of John Milne were all served Co-Hiers General on the 14 Feb 1792 The exceptions were the grandsons Alexander (presumed dead) John Miln Lauder (d.1776) & Colin Lauder (d.1780)

In a handwritten note held at the Society of Genealogists in London the following information is contained: "Francis Lauder, writer (solicitor), and Alexander Lauder, Edinburgh, 14th October 1814, the only surviving brothers-german of the deceased Dr. John Lauder, physician, late at the [Naval] Depot at Pennycuik. Said John had a farm let out at Easter Teary, Dyke, co.Elgin."

This may have been incorrectly assumed to mean Dr Colin's Sons (A) because Francis Lauder - son of Colin -Surgeon Edinburgh died 1803. (B) because Alexander Lauder son of Colin Lauder is assumed dead before 1792 (as above) (c) Dr John Lauder- still had another brother William Preston Lauder alive -(all be it estranged and near bankruptcy, residing in London) (d) could it actually refer to the Brothers german Alexander and Francis (sons of Francis Lauder) both known to be alive at this date. (nephews to Dr John) ,

The only info I appear to have on him is the record taken from the Society of Genealogists in London.

Hi -Gregory are you able to help detail exactly where we see Alexander was named as a child of Colin Lauder (Surgeon) & M.Milne.. was it Colin's Testament or Margaret Milns ?

I have every reason to believe he had passed before 1792 (see John Miln Servcice of Heirs).. and have put his birth between 1770-1773 ?
