John (Laughlan) Laughlin was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

John married^[2] Marjorie May Dunshea on Thursday, 31st August 1893 at Bungendore, New South Wales, Australia. Together they had 3 children.

John passed away^[3] on Friday, 13th November 1953 at Bulli Hospital, Bulli^[4], late of Bellamy^[5], New South Wales, Australia, aged 81 years, 6 months, 7 days, and is interred^[6] at Bulli Cemetery, Bulli, New South Wales, Anglican Section.

OBITUARY ....

Mr. J. S. LAUGHLIN

Mr. John Sidney Laughlin, who died last Friday at Bulli Hospital, had resided on the South Coast for more than 50 years.

Born at Mudgee, he settled first at Dapto about 1900, and was associated with the old Dapto Smelters.

Seven years later he moved to Bellambi, and was with the Illawarra Brick Company until his retirement.

Aged 81 years, he had enjoyed quite good health until admitted to Hospital only three weeks ago.

A keen sportsman, he was a great lover of horses and trotters.

He had also interested himself in greyhounds, and his most noted performer was Black Aero which won many races through the State.

His wife predeceased him in March, 1951, and he is survived by a famly of seven — Ethel (Mrs. Butler, Manly), George (Thirroul), Doris (Mrs. O'Brien, Wollongong), Stan (Port Kembla), Arthur, Eric and Mollie (Mrs. M. Martin, Wollongong).

The funeral on Saturday afternoon left A. Cole's Bulli chapel for the Bulli cemetery.
