- John Milton Laughlin (b. 15 Nov 1840, Franklin Twp, Shelby County, Ohio -d. 5 May 1911) was a boy of 15 years when his father died and, of course,some of the burden of the farm fell on his shoulders. When the Civil Warbroke out, John enlisted in Co K of the 20th OVI Regiment. He was takensick with measles at Cairo, Illinois, and he lost his voice and couldonly talk in a whisper. But in time his voice came back and he was able to talk. He married Miss Jennie Leapley (b. 7 Jan 1842 - d. Saturday, 23Nov 1929 at age 87 yrs 10 mo 23 days) on 25 March 1868.
